History

The Beginning

Florida Premier FC (FPFC) was originally established as West Pasco Youth Soccer Association (WPYSA) in 1979 and has existed for over 40 years in Pasco County.

The West Pasco logo originally featured Thor’s helmet, symbolic of the hammer-wielding god associated with thunder and lightning, hence the name West Pasco FC Thunder. Sporting the colors of red and black, West Pasco FC offered recreational and travel soccer to western Pasco County.

Growth

As Pasco County grew, so did West Pasco FC. Mitchell fields and the Holiday Sports Complex (now J Ben Harrill) were filled to capacity as more and more Pasco players sought to play soccer locally. The number of competitive travel teams tripled while recreation added an additional season in the Spring.

After acquiring a new field site Five years ago in Central Pasco at the Land O Lakes Recreation Center off of Collier Parkway, the WPYSA Board of Directors (BOD) changed its name to Florida Premier FC to better represent the families who travel from all over Pasco County and surrounding Tampa Bay communities. The FL Premier FC logo still underscores the legacy of Thor by keeping his hammer as a central symbol of strength. Soon after this name change, FL Premier expanded to the fields at Starkey Ranch District Park in Odessa, FL, its fourth field site.

Recently, FL Premier welcomed many new partnerships, including the Tarpon Springs Youth Soccer Association, offering high-quality soccer programs to even more players from the Tampa region. FL Premier has also recently added additional facilities in Temple Terrace, Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel, and Brooksville. Bringing the total number of campuses to nine. Fl Premier FC has strong roots in the Pasco County community through its families and staff. Many of its former players now serve as County Commissioners, school teachers, and local business owners and have returned to the Club as coaches or trainers.

A Top Academy Program

Florida Premier FC has one of the top Academy programs in Florida, fielding multiple teams for both boys and girls in every age group from U7-U10. The emphasis at the U7/U8 age is to improve individual ball skills and introduce the game of soccer. The U9 and U10s are equally focused on technical skills while learning the general principles of soccer. The Academy continues to expand as more players desire the structure the program offers, and players understand and appreciate the importance of development over winning.

Florida Premier’s older teams (junior and senior) have recently achieved multiple league championships and tournament successes. Many of the U11 - U18 teams experiencing these successes were the first to go through the Academy program. The Club was recently awarded the Boys ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) and ECNL-R (Elite Clubs National League-Regional) and Girls ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) and ECNL-R programs. These programs offer the highest quality competitive soccer at the regional and national level.

FL Premier has become a full-service Club with the ability to offer all players from Pasco and the greater Tampa Bay area the opportunity to play at a level that best serves their skills and needs.

We are truly One Club, One Family!
